James Paul White |
James Paul White is an inventive contemporary composer and irreverent conceptual visual artist brought up in the 70’s in Swansea and during the 80’s performing and composing in the new wave and early electronica scene. In the late 80’s James relocated to London to work in the music industry.
James studied art at St Martins and Chelsea working a mix of sculpture, video, performance, digital art and installation. Standout video works include “If Only, Only If”, “I Love My Lucky Cats”, and “Two Things That Lend Themselves To One Another”. James has exhibited in various galleries and his works are in a number of private collections. Since 2011 he’s been obsessed with solo piano, loving its purity and the music references of his heritage alongside a classical grounding. His compositions are inspired by a passion for narrative arcs particularly those with conflict and resolution evoking a feeling of cinematic drama alongside melancholy, reflection and calmness, giving a real sense of energy, stillness and resolution. In 2020 “From The Library” was released. His 2nd Solo Piano Album “Seven Basic Plots” was released in 2025. |
