Join us for an evening of history, intrigue, and unexpected connections at 1901 Arts Club, as part of the 2025 Lambeth Heritage Festival.
Best known for 'Finding' Dr. Livingstone, Henry Morton Stanley was far more than a Victorian explorer. His extraordinary life connects north Lambeth to contentious statues in Wales, Belgian colonialism, Congolese resistance, and even the American Wild West - crossing paths with Wild Bill Hickok.
In this talk, Nick Rampley, Director at WeAreWaterloo BID, unpacks the life and legacy of a complex and controversial 19th century figure, through the lens of local history, global politics, and self-determination. |
