The outstanding duo formed by violinist Tom Mathias and pianist Dom Degavino will present an eclectic programme with Music from the Americas including works by Brazilian composer Henrique Oswald and a selection of American composers such as Duke Ellington and Gershwin!

Thomas Mathias |
Welsh violinist Thomas Mathias has been broadcast live as a soloist on S4C Television and BBC Radio Cymru, and has given recitals across Europe and North America. Thomas was selected as an Associate Artist of the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) and Countess of Munster Trust in 2024. He won the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Julius Isserlis Scholarship and is a Hattori Foundation prize winner.
Thomas has performed as a soloist with orchestras in the UK and USA, and in 2026 will give the world premiere of Kian Ravaei’s violin concerto. In 2023, Thomas gave the UK premiere of Tessa Lark’s Ysaye Shuffle.
Recent performance highlights include solo and chamber appearances in Hawai’i, Texas, Nevada, Indiana, Florida, and the UK, including London and Prussia Cove. In 2022-23, Thomas was a member of the Kuttner Quartet-in-Residence at Indiana University.
Appointed Concertmaster of Ballet Indiana Orchestra in 2022, Thomas is regularly invited as a guest to play with orchestras across the UK and USA. Thomas is an Artist Diploma candidate at Indiana University, studying with Mauricio Fuks and Alex Kerr. An avid researcher into violin practice, Thomas has been invited to give presentations at conferences across the world, including Japan, Poland, and the USA. He was awarded a Presser Foundation award for his work, and was published in the Journal of Research in Music Education in 2025.
Thomas performs on a Sergio Peresson violin and a Giovanni Lucchi bow, on generous loan from the Jacobs School of Music and the Maestro Foundation respectively. Thomas is Artistic Director of the Tenby International Music Festival in Wales, United Kingdom.

Dominic Degavino |
Pianist Dominic Degavino has performed concerts in venues across the United Kingdom and beyond, including solo performances at the Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre, London as a Park Lane Group artist, at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester and the Lichfield and Edinburgh festivals, among others. Concerto appearances include performances with the Manchester Camerata and RNCM Symphony Orchestra.
Dominic has achieved considerable competition success, including prizes at the Concours International de Piano d'Epinal in France, J.N. Hummel International Piano Competition in Slovakia, Giorgos Thymis International Piano Competition in Greece, and the Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artists Competition and Royal Over-Seas League Competition in the UK. He is also a recipient of the prestigious RNCM Gold Medal. He has performed extensively as a member of both the Tillett Trust DEBUT and the Countess of Munster Trust recital schemes. He studied in Manchester with tutor Helen Krizos, at both Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, before later undertaking postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where he studied with Charles Owen and Noriko Ogawa. During this time, he also took part in masterclasses with eminent pianists such as Lang Lang, Richard Goode, Imogen Cooper, Peter Frankl and John O'Conor. Alongside work as a soloist, he is a passionate chamber musician, accompanist, and jazz player, performing extensively and winning prizes with a wide array of ensembles, including the Mithras Trio (former BBC New Generation Artists) and with flautist Meera Maharaj. |
