This performance forms part of the Hattori Foundation early evening concert series. This is a very friendly series, in true Salon-style, where guests are invited to enjoy a pre-concert drink included in the ticket price, a one-hour performance (without interval) and then meet the performers and Trustees in the Club's bar after each recital for complimentary refreshments.

The Hattori Foundation was established as an Educational Trust by the Hattori Family and granted charity status in 1992.
The aim of the Foundation in the field of music is to encourage and assist exceptionally talented young instrumental soloists or chamber ensembles who are British Nationals or resident in the UK and whose talent and achievements give promise of an international career. |
Jelena Horvat
Serbian violinist Jelena Horvat was born into a musical family and began to play the violin when she was six years old. She has performed as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician in venues including the Menuhin Hall and Kings Place in England, Liszt Academy Grand Hall in Hungary, Teatro alla Scala in Italy, and Huafa & CPAA Grand Theatre in China.
Jelena’s early training began at the School for Musically Gifted Children in Ćuprija, Serbia, with Dragutin Mladenović. She went on to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School with esteemed pedagogues Natasha Boyarsky and Lutsia Ibragimova. Since 2022, Jelena has been pursuing her undergraduate degree at the Royal College of Music as a Rose Williams Scholar under the guidance of Radu Blidar. Jelena received the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Emily Anderson Prize for 2022, 1st prize at the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist Competition 2022, 3rd prize at the Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians 2023, and 1st prize at the Jenö Hubay International Violin Competition 2023. Jelena has taken part in numerous festivals and academies, notably the Britten Pears Arts, Gstaad Menuhin Festival and Carl Flesch Akademie, and has appeared on BBC Radio 3 ‘In Tune’. Jelena has had masterclasses with renowned musicians including Maxim Vengerov, Mihaela Martin, Alina Ibragimova, Alasdair Beatson, Kolja Blacher, Roman Simović and Robert Levin. As a concerto soloist, Jelena has collaborated with orchestras including the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, European Spirit of Youth Orchestra, Farnham Sinfonia and Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra. |
Svitlana KosenkoSvitlana Kosenko was born in Ukraine and studied first in Kharkiv Special Music School with Professor Svitlana Zaharova. After graduating with a bachelor's and a master's degree from Kharkiv University of Arts, where she studied with professor Natalya Melnikova, Svitlana returned to work as a principal piano teacher at her alma mater Kharkiv Special Music School.
Svitlana is a laureate of many international competitions. In 1999, she won the Second Prize in the International Competition of French-Polish Music in Paris. 2001 saw Svitlana take first prize in the Smetana International Competition and was awarded a Special Prize for her performance at the Enescu Competition. In 2012, she won Best Pianist at the Joseph Suder Lieder Competition. In 2014, she completed her studies at Saar University of Music, Germany, with a master's degree in Chamber Music under Professor Tatevik Mokatsian. From 2014-2022 she worked as Official Staff Pianist at The Yehudi Menuhin School. In 2022, Svitlana started working at the Royal College of Music as an accompanist in the string department. |
