AN EVENING OF CHAMBER MUSIC
|
Wednesday 2 October 2024Doors: 6.30pm
Concert: 7.30pm Duration: approx 90min. (incl one interval) Tickets: £21 |
Welcome to the fourth in our season of chamber concerts at the 1901 Arts Club, performed by musicians from London and beyond and hosted by bassoonist Miles Chapman.
This concert is largely a celebration of music written in the last century. We start out with a string duet written by New York-based composer, Caroline Shaw, who was the youngest recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2013. We follow up with two solo works by Igor Stravinsky, before ending the first half with a trio by Jean Françaix.
After a brief interval we will resume with some reed trio works by Jacques Ibert and Gordon Lewin, before ending our evening with some cello music, firstly the solo cello sonata by Paul Hindemith and then the beautiful Jackie-O by two-time Grammy-award winning cellist and composer Mark Summer.
Our Waterloo-based music salon comes with cosy seating and an amply stocked bar to quench your thirst before and after the performance, and during the intermissions.
So come along, grab a drink, kick back your heels and melt into some beautiful music.
