Késia Decoté |
Késia Decoté is a Brazilian pianist whose work focuses on contemporary music and interdisciplinary performance. She is particularly interested in reimagining how piano music is presented, creating immersive and innovative artistic experiences that invite active engagement from the audience.
She has performed widely as a soloist and as a collaborator in interdisciplinary productions across Europe, Brazil, and Canada. Her recording Para a frente, released on the London-based label Nonclassical, features works for piano, toy piano, and electronics written for her by a new generation of British composers.
Késia holds a PhD in Arts and Music and a Master’s degree with distinction from Oxford Brookes University, as well as Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees (cum laude) in Piano from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She recently completed postdoctoral research at the University of Bergen, Norway, as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fellow, investigating new models for the participation of women and girls in classical music performance.
