Poliphonia presents a cross‑continental celebration of Latin American voices, moving from Cuban rhythmic spark to Brazilian lyricism and folklore, venturing into contemporary sound worlds with a new work for piano, toy piano and electronics, and culminating in the vibrant Argentine dances of Hilda Herrera and Ginastera.

Karin Fernandes, a pianist born in São Paulo, is a renowned artist with a multifaceted career. She honed her skills through courses in Europe, notably studying with Maria João Pires, Bernard Flavigny, and receiving a scholarship at the Philomusica Piano Festival in Oxford. Throughout her career, Karin has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including OSESP, Amazonas Philharmonic, OSUSP, and the Campinas Symphony Orchestra, in addition to frequent recitals in Europe and South America.
Her excellence as a pianist is recognised by winning 21 first prizes in piano competitions, including the prestigious Eldorado Music Prize in 1999. Her albums have garnered acclaim, with the CD "Cria – nova música brasileira para piano, vol. I" receiving the Concerto Award for Best CD of the Year in 2015.
Karin also stands out as a talented chamber musician and is a member of Trio Puelli, dedicated to 20th and 21st-century music. In addition to her achievements as a performer, Karin shares her knowledge as a piano teacher, Contemporary Music Laboratory, and Chamber Music at EMESP Tom Jobim in São Paulo since 2017.
With a total of 16 albums released, Karin continues to make significant contributions to classical music and expands her repertoire with future releases, showcasing her enduring commitment to the art of piano performance and her impact on the Brazilian and international music scene.

Késia Decoté is a pianist from Vitoria, Brazil. She holds a PhD (CNPq scholarship) and MA (Distinction, Santander scholarship) in Contemporary Arts and Music from Oxford Brookes University (Oxford, UK), Master Degree (CAPES scholarship) and BA (Cum laude, CNPq scholarship) in Piano Performance from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro, BR). She studied under Mr. Luiz Senise and Dr. Myrian Dauelsberg (piano), and Dr. Ray Lee (Contemporary Arts and Music).
Késia has been developing a rich and diverse career, as piano soloist, chamber music instrumentalist, contemporary music interpreter and as a musician in theatre productions. As a soloist, Késia has performed solo piano recitals to great acclaim in the UK, Brazil, Portugal, Canadá and Norway. She has also been developing an exciting career as an improviser, being member of Oxford Improvisers, and performing and recording in duo with cellist Bruno Guastalla. |
