Tracing a journey from the Spanish keyboard music of Scarlatti to the Viennese Classic Style, focusing on the music of the little-known composer Manuel Blasco de Nebra (1750-1784). This unjustly neglected composer engages listeners with an expressive world that is far more searching than Scarlatti’s, with a quality reminiscent of Mozart and Haydn, while also foretelling the music of Schubert and even Chopin. |
