Poetry

The Waterloo Oasis
by Geoff Pero

A saxophone quartet are playing.
The venue to me quite new.
It wasn't my choice to go there,
I was sent there to review.

You cannot fail to be seduced
by the general razzamatazz
emanating from chamber music,
silent film, or sometimes jazz.

The venue is an Arts Club,
circa nineteen-o-one,
then a schoolmaster's residence
now a place for fun.

The inspiration of Joji Hattori,
a foundation for Music and Art,
cherry-picking talented musicians
and giving them a helping start.
